After 4 summers, I have now completed Te Araroa from Cape Reinga through to Bluff - what a journey in many ways, and what a wonderful variety of scenery our country has to offer.
My total walking time has been just under 4 months, with a mix of day and overnight pack sections. Overall averages 3.7 kph, 26.7 kms per day, and 7.3 hours per day - but some big variations - this last summer from the Rangitata River I averaged 8.9 hrs per day.

A big thankyou to my wife Hazel for her tireless support and always being there to reprovision me when needed. And to Geoff Chapple and all the Te Araroa team around the country for making the trail happen. And to DOC and all the other organisations and people that support the trail in so many ways - we would all be quite lost without all those orange markers and signs and huts and tracks ... the list goes on and on.
